“To be calm is the highest      achievement of the self”

The Beginning…

My enthusiasm for yoga evolved organically over time. I was introduced to Hatha Yoga at a young age, and when I practised regularly, my body felt stronger and my mind focused and calm.

I found that yoga could carve out a quiet space in the midst of a busy life. As a primary school teacher, I viewed this nurturing space as a gift, a gift to share.

Arrangements seemed to fall into place and in 2014 I started to study for a teaching diploma from the British Wheel of Yoga, I qualified in 2017. I am committed to providing inclusive, gently paced classes and this has inspired me to work for a qualification in Gentle Years Yoga.

The Big Picture…

Developing foundations for moving with greater ease and contentment are key elements of my class.

A gentle pace provides peace for well-being and focuses attention on the breath.

The formula for enjoyment is to work at a pace suited to your strengths and limitations. Working at a safe and pleasing level is far more important than striving for the perfect posture. I'm interested in creating an enabling environment where you feel comfortable to explore movement without being too focused on the final posture.

Yoga is a way of being, it is an approach to life. We tend to associate yoga with physical exercise, and that’s fine. The practice will improve strength, flexibility and balance, but the postures are only part of a bigger picture. Yoga is recognised as an ancient holistic care system which addresses our physical, mental and spiritual needs. It is a mind

and body practice which empowers us to take care of our overall well-being.

It doesn’t matter what stage of life you are at, there’s no time like the present to start your yoga journey!
